PORTALI MCP

Connector documentation

Overview

Portali is a bookkeeping platform for accountants and firms. The Portali MCP connector lets Claude read and update your Portali account — clients, documents, bank data, QuickBooks sync, reports, invoices, billing, and team settings — through natural conversation and in-chat UI cards.

Requirements

  • Portali account — sign up at the dashboard if you do not have one.
  • Claude — add Portali from the Connectors Directory, or as a custom MCP connector on a paid plan.
  • OAuth sign-in — when you connect, Claude opens Portali’s secure login page. No API keys are pasted into chat.

Connect in Claude

If Portali is listed in the Claude Connectors Directory, search for Portali and choose Connect. Otherwise add a custom connector with the server URL below.

Steps

  • Open Claude → Settings → Connectors (or Integrations).
  • Add a custom connector and paste the MCP server URL shown above.
  • Complete the Portali OAuth sign-in when prompted.
  • Start a new conversation and ask Claude what Portali can help with — for example: “Show my clients” or “Walk me through connecting QuickBooks for a client.”

Authentication

The connector uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE. Claude registers as an OAuth client automatically. Your access token is scoped to your Portali user and is not shared with other connectors.

What you can do

  • Clients — list, create, edit, and manage client profiles.
  • Documents — upload receipts and invoices, review OCR results, approve batches.
  • Bank & QuickBooks — connect banks, sync transactions, link QuickBooks, push journal entries.

  • Invoices — create and manage invoices with guided steppers in chat.
  • Team & billing — employees, permissions, groups, subscriptions, and usage (member accounts).
  • Account — profile, security, and support tickets.

Example prompts
